The ceremony took place before the match against Napoli, which ended in a 0-0 draw during the fifth round of the Italian Serie A.
After the warm-up, Szczęsny stepped onto the field, where young goalkeepers from the Juventus academy formed a guard of honor for him. He received a jersey with the number 252, representing the total number of appearances he made for the club.
In an emotional speech, he thanked the fans for their love and support, which made him feel at home.
"Thank you all for seven years of love. You made me feel loved and respected. You made me feel at home. You are my family," the goalkeeper said in Italian to the applauding crowd.
Szczęsny joined Juventus in 2017, initially serving as Gianluigi Buffon’s backup before becoming the first-choice goalkeeper and winning the Serie A title three times.
Ahead of the current season, the club opted for a younger goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio, and Szczęsny mutually agreed to end his contract, announcing his retirement from professional football.
